Wedding guest dressing: what you shouldn’t be wearing (and what to try instead)
Weddings might be less formal than they used to be, but that doesn’t mean anything goes. Yes, you’ve got more room to play with outfit choices these days, but the goal is still to look like you’ve made an effort without upstaging the couple getting married.
Some things are still non-negotiable. Don’t wear white (obviously). Avoid anything that looks like it’s been dragged straight from a festival. And be honest — if you’d wear it to the beach or to bed, it probably doesn’t belong at a wedding. That said, the solution isn’t to go full formal either.
The sweet spot lies somewhere between polished and personal — a dress you can dance in, sit down in, and not regret by the second course.
